Spring Rites with Maypole Dancing & May Baskets
Date- Saturday, April 28th, 1:00pm- 3:00pm
Location- One-room School House
Spring is in the air and it’s time to celebrate the way the early settlers welcomed spring. If you can skip, you can dance around a Maypole. Come make a May Day basket with tissue paper flowers.
Puppet Show- StellaLuna by Janella Cannon
Date- Friday, June 29th, 1:00pm
Location- Delozier Building, Children’s Corner Theater
Come celebrate Olde Glory Days by attending a puppet show. While being entertained by larger than life puppets, the audience will also learn the biological habits of fruit bats and birds. The puppet characters emphasize the importance of accepting each other’s differences and why friendship is important.
Fall Harvest Event
Date- Oct 6th, 1:00-3:00pm
Location- One-room School and Homestead
The homestead area is busy perserving the fall harvest of fruits and vegetables and all things related to pioneer life. Children will participate in lots of hands-on activities like milking a cow, drying apples, doing laundry with lye soap, rope makiing, corn shelling, and sampling chuck wagon cooking.
Christmas Puppet Show- ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore
Date- Saturday, December 8th, 1:30pm
Location- Delozier Building, Children’s Corner Theater
StoneLion Puppet Theatre group from Kansas City returns to Henry County Museum at the Children’s Corner Theater for one performance. Hear this famous Christmas poem as Santa’s Workshop & toy come alive with puppets and marionettes.
